What We Do

Our Support

With headquarters in Halifax Nova Scotia, Atlantic Community Supported Living (ACSL) provides personalized, person-centred services for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, mental health challenges and diverse needs to live the life they choose in community.

We work alongside individuals, their families, guardians, substitute decision makers, and support networks to understand each person’s goals, strengths, interests, and needs, creating flexible support plans that adapt as their goals change.

Our approach focuses on helping individuals build confidence, develop skills, and have greater choice and control in their daily lives while participating fully in their communities. Through meaningful opportunities for community participation, education, and employment, individuals are encouraged to explore their interests, develop their abilities, and take an active role in their own lives.

ACSL brings together a team of skilled professionals who work collaboratively to understand each individual as a whole.

Our team includes professionals such as Board Certified Behaviour Analysts, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Psychologists, and Supported Living Workers who collaborate to create individualized approaches aligned with each person’s goals and preferences.

Through our partnership with Remedy, ACSL helps individuals transition from facility-based environments into homes and communities of their choice.

We work collaboratively to make these transitions successful by building individualized plans, strengthening community connections, and ensuring people have the resources and relationships needed to feel confident and prepared.

At ACSL, our work is guided by listening, collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to finding solutions that reflect each person’s unique goals and preferences. We believe effective services begin with understanding what matters most to each individual and working together to create opportunities for people to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

To make Atlantic Community Supported Living your service provider, you must be registered in the Disability Support Program (DSP).

We Start By Listening

Our person-centred approach focuses on understanding each person’s goals, strengths, interests, preferences, and needs. We work alongside individuals and their support networks to create flexible plans that reflect what matters most to each person and adapt as their goals and needs change.

Through personalized services, we help individuals build confidence, develop skills, and have choice and control in their daily lives. We build bridges for community participation, education, employment, meaningful relationships, health and wellbeing, and a strong sense of belonging.

At ACSL, we are committed to listening, collaborating, and finding creative
solutions that empower individuals to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

We Build A Plan Together

Supported Living

Everyone has the right to choose where and how they live. We support individuals to have control over their daily lives, make informed decisions, create routines that reflect their own preferences, goals, and needs and participate in their communities.

1

Skills Development

Growth happens through learning, exploration, and opportunities to try new things. We support individuals to express their needs, navigate challenges, and build confidence in everyday life skills.

6

Relationships & Belonging

Everyone has gifts to share. We support individuals in finding and developing their “natural supports”— authentic relationships with friends, neighbors, coworkers, shopkeepers, and people with shared interests that exist independently of our services.

3

Education & Employment

We support individuals in finding activities they enjoy, turning their skills into opportunities for volunteering and employment and discovering learning opportunities that support personal growth and future goals.

2

Community & Inclusion

We support individuals in building connections in the community happens by joining organizations, attending events, volunteering, or being involved in the things they care about.

4

Health & Wellbeing

We believe physical and mental health are an essential parts of a balanced life. We support individuals in maintaining their well-being by helping them make informed personal choices, access the right resources, build healthy routines.

Live the Life you Choose

Independent Living Services

Having your own space is important, whether its an apartment or house, it’s about making everyday choices and creating a life that feels like yours. We work alongside each person to offer practical support when helpful, while encouraging confidence, connection and greater independence at home and in the community.

Supported Living Homes

Our supported homes are places to belong, grow and enjoy everyday life. Up to four adults make each house their home, with staff present around the clock to offer support when needed. Each person is encouraged to make their own choices, build relationships and stay connected to the people and activities that matter most.
