Atlantic Community Supported Living (ACSL) is a non-profit disability support organization headquartered in Halifax Nova Scotia. We are committed to promoting dignity, inclusion, choice, and belonging for adults with intellectual disabilities, mental health challenges, and diverse support needs. Guided by a person-centred philosophy, we believe every individual has the right to live a meaningful life, make informed choices, and participate fully in their community.
At ACSL, we recognize that every person has unique strengths, abilities, interests, and aspirations. We are dedicated to building supportive, respectful relationships that honour each person’s goals, preferences, and lived experiences. Our work is grounded in collaboration and strong relationships. We work alongside individuals and their support networks, recognizing the important role that families, guardians, substitute decision makers, and community partners play in helping create meaningful opportunities and support people in achieving their goals.
Our commitment to a person-centred approach is reflected in the knowledge, compassion, and dedication of our skilled professionals. Through continuous learning, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, our team brings creativity, resourcefulness, and a solutions-oriented mindset to supporting individuals and their goals. We foster a culture of respect, integrity, accountability, and innovation, ensuring that the people we support remain at the centre of every decision. As a proud partner in the Remedy initiative, we are helping advance a more inclusive future by supporting the transition from facility-based environments to homes and communities of choice, reinforcing our commitment to inclusion, independence, and belonging.
As our organization continues to grow, we remain focused on creating inclusive communities where people are valued for who they are and have opportunities to thrive. We believe that everyone deserves to feel connected, respected, and empowered, and we are proud to advocate for inclusion, celebrate individuality, and work every day to build stronger, more welcoming communities.
We provide specialized, coordinated supports for individuals living with complex developmental and mental health challenges. We help people build the skills, confidence, and support they need to live successfully in their communities.
Every person is able to fulfill their unique purpose in a community where they are valued, respected, and belong. Everyone is home for good.
Our values guide everything we do. They shape how we support people, how we work together, and how we build trusting relationships with individuals, families, and our communities.
Growth through Opportunity
Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and try new experiences. We support people to pursue their goals while working together to understand and manage risks in ways that promote confidence, independence, and personal growth.
Collaboration & Trusted Partnership
Strong supports are built through strong relationships. We work in partnership with individuals, families, caregivers, and community partners, listening, communicating openly, and working together to achieve shared goals.
Uncompromising Accountability
Trust is earned through our actions. We are committed to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality supports while being open, honest, and accountable to the people we serve.
Dignity, Respect & Choice
We see everyone as a valued person with their own rights, choices, strengths, and voice. We are committed to creating an environment where people are listened to, respected, and supported to make decisions about their own lives, participate in their communities, and be recognized for who they are.
Inclusion and True Belonging
Community living means more than just residing in a neighborhood; it means being an active, valued member of it. We are dedicated to fostering genuine inclusion where individuals build authentic friendships, pursue meaningful employment, and share their unique gifts.
