About Rob Strang

Rob Strang

Board Member

Dr. Strang has dedicated more than 30 years to public health leadership and has served as Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. Throughout his career, he has led strategic planning, implementation, and decision-making on complex public health issues, while building extensive experience in leadership, public communication, government relations, and system-wide collaboration.

In his role with Public Health, Rob has worked extensively in mental health and community-based supports, helping shape provincial responses and service systems for vulnerable populations.

His professional experience is complemented by a strong commitment to community involvement and advocacy. He has previously served on the boards of Heart & Stroke, Feed Nova Scotia, and Autism Nova Scotia, and will also be joining the board of Inclusion Nova Scotia this June. Rob’s connection to the work of Atlantic Community Supported Living are both professional and personal.

He and his wife are parents to a 20-year-old son with a complex neuro-genetic developmental disorder, giving him significant lived experience as a caregiver and advocate. Together, they are actively involved in developing plans for independent, supported living for their son through “The Remedy.”
