About Nadine Cooper
Nadine Cooper
Vice Chair
Nadine was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She attended Dalhousie University, obtaining a BA in political science and economics and a Law degree. Following admission to the bar, she joined the Nova Scotia Department of Consumer Affairs where she worked in a research and policy analysis capacity. She later obtained a Masters in Public Administration from Dalhousie University.
Nadine brings significant experience in government, policing and justice, through her role as Deputy Solicitor General for the Province of Nova Scotia.
Her career also includes being appointed Deputy Minister of Housing and Consumer Affairs and the Police Complaints Commissioner which gave her responsibility for civilian oversight of law enforcement in the province. During this time, she was appointed by the Minister of Justice to conduct an investigation into the death of Victoria Rose Paul, a native person who died in a Truro jail.
After retiring, she served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement. Volunteer work has included the Cole Harbour Place Foundation, the YWCA management committee, and North Grove.
